Fall 2021 Week 9: 4-8 Oct. 2021 This Week’s Learning Goals: Read and comprehend poetry. Determine a theme and/or central idea of a poem and analyze in detail its development over the course of the poem. Analyze a speaker’s point of view, reasoning, and use of rhetoric. Analyze character development in poetry. Collaboratively discuss diverse topics and issues found in poetry and be able to summarize points of agreement and disagreement, as well as offer justifications for these views. Analyze poetry, focusing specifically on the effect of figurative devices and the themes included. Write for reflection and purpose routinely, including your own original poetry and responses to critical thinking prompts. Acquire and accurately use general academic and domain-specific vocabulary.
