Homework: Complete Short Stories Assessment (narrative writing). Upload to TurnItIn.com by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, 26 Jan. 2020. Dear students,
I'm unexpectedly leaving school early today and will not see you in class. Our plans have changed, so if you view the weekly lesson plan document below, it will not be accurate. You will read "The Sniper" by Liam O'Flaherty. The document you'll complete can be found here. You do not have to complete the page with the "STEAL" chart. Everything else should be completed in class or at home for homework. Please Remind message me your questions. You may use dictionaries to look up the vocab words on page two. Have a great day! I hope to see you tomorrow. Mrs. Motsinger For homework on Wednesday night, please review the three claim statements you wrote about "Marigolds" (SpringBoard page 16). You can access your Spring Board book online here: cobbga.springboardonline.org/ebook/cleverSsoLogin. Log in to Clever using your Office365 credentials and click "SpringBoard" and then "eBook."
-For each claim statement, find one piece of supporting evidence (a quote from the story). Write a lead-in for that quote and include a citation. You'll turn in three sentences tomorrow: one sentence for each claim statement with a quote and a citation. Here's a breakdown: Claim #1: Find a quote. Write it in a sentence with a lead-in. End with an in-text parenthetical citation. Claim #2: Find a quote. Write it in a sentence with a lead-in. End with an in-text parenthetical citation. Claim #3: Find a quote. Write it in a sentence with a lead-in. End with an in-text parenthetical citation. Example: The narrator explains, "I suppose that futile waiting was the sorrowful background music of our impoverished little community" (Collier 17). The marigolds are described as "a brilliant splash of sunny yellow against the dust" (Collier 16). Collier juxtaposes the marigolds with Miss Lottie's house: "Certainly they did not fit in with the crumbling decay of the rest of her yard" (Collier 16). Use your CEI graphic organizer to complete a CEI (write on the handout, not notebook paper yet). Use this claim statement: The theme of “The Stolen Party,” a short story by Liliana Heker, is that there is an undeniable gap between the rich and the poor, and the conversation in chunk three develops that theme by bringing attention to the fact that Luciana and Rosaura are not real friends even though Rosaura believes they are.
